Hey,
The Richard Avedon Foundation has released a new iPad application in honour of the late American photographer (you guessed it!) Richard Avedon.
Avedon passed away almost 10 years ago, but his iconic portraits are still – and will forever be – a reference in the world of photography.
The app itself (designed by the New-York design firm Potion) is very nicely done, in black and white tones, as it should. Its simplicity and clean appearance pays a great ‘homage’ to the photographer.
The navigation is intuitive and easy, and the beautiful photographs truly are the stars. You can pick favorites to make a personal album and you can get back to the pictures you recently looked at too.
Further descriptions for the images can easily be accessed but are hidden by default.
A lot of the pictures are displayed with their transparency/negative edges, which is a nice touch.
The numerous images are grouped by topics or decades for easier access.
Some nice archives from early publications are available in the application as well.
Overall, a very well designed application I strongly recommend to all photography lovers.
Enjoy!
