I keep saying I love 500px and I at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m saying it again.
They selected a bunch of pictures in various categories, as the best of 2012: 500px – Best of 2012
There is a lot of great work there, and this is very inspiring to me. I’ve said it in the past, but looking at other people’s work will help your own photography!
I flag some of those pictures as my favorites, only the ones I find outstanding. When I look back at those pictures, it shows what I like, and what I (would) like to do. In short, it helps me narrow down my style. Even though this is not MY work, it shows the type of photography I am drawn towards.
By looking at these favorites, it becomes clear that my style is minimalistic, with a strong graphical element, with saturated colors.
The next step is to create pictures like that, MYSELF… Yes, this is the difficult part: switching from viewer to maker!
